Advancing Packaging Recycling through Smart Technologies and Automated Solutions
The Hellenic Recovery Recycling Corporation (HERRCO) took part in the 8th Verde.Tec International Exhibition, Greece's leading event dedicated to the environment, circular economy, and green development, held from February 27 to March 1, 2026, at the Mediterranean Exhibition Centre (MEC) in Paiania.
Through its interactive exhibition stand, HERRCO highlighted its long-standing contribution to Packaging Recycling, demonstrating how recycling plays a vital role in supporting the circular economy and sustainable development. Focusing on the protection of natural resources and waste reduction, the stand served as a meeting point for businesses, public and private sector representatives, organizations, and visitors from across the country. HERRCO's team presented the measurable environmental impact of the Blue Bin and Blue Bell system while raising awareness of the important role Packaging Recycling plays in addressing climate change.
The exhibition also provided an opportunity to showcase HERRCO's strategic commitment to innovation and digital transformation. By investing in artificial intelligence, data analytics, advanced infrastructure, and pilot projects, the company continues to modernize its operations and improve the efficiency of packaging waste management in Greece, setting new standards for the recycling sector.
As part of the exhibition's conference programme, HERRCO's General Manager, Mr. Giannis Razis, participated in a panel discussion organized by ROBENSO on the modernization of waste treatment facilities through artificial intelligence. During the discussion, he stated: "Investing in the technological modernization of our facilities is not simply an option—it is a strategic commitment for the years ahead.
