Hellenic Recovery Recycling Corporation (HERRCO) proudly supported this year’s PPC IRONMAN® 70.3® Costa Navarino, Peloponnese, Greece, which took place from 24 to 26 October at W Costa Navarino and across the wider Messinia region, as well as IronKids Peloponnese, co-organised by evZIN feelόsophy and the Region of Peloponnese.
Set in the heart of one of the Mediterranean’s leading destinations, the event brought together 1,500 athletes, 500 volunteers and more than 4,000 spectators and visitors from around the world, who experienced one of the most demanding one-day triathlon races globally. Athletes competed in the IRONMAN 70.3 distance, consisting of 1.9 km of swimming, 90 km of cycling and 21.1 km of running.
HERRCO had a strong presence throughout the event, hosting an interactive booth at the IRONMAN Expo Area and supporting all related activities of PPC IRONMAN Peloponnese. Through these initiatives, the company aimed to raise awareness among both adults and children about the fundamentals of packaging waste sorting and recycling, the importance of protecting natural resources, the measurable impact of Greece’s Blue Bins and Blue Bells System, and the everyday actions we can all take to reduce our environmental footprint and work towards a greener future.
On Saturday, 25 October, the spotlight turned to young sports enthusiasts at the HERRCO IRONKIDS Peloponnese 2025 powered by IRONMAN, with HERRCO as the Title Sponsor. The race was designed for children aged 6–12 and took place at the Port of Pylos, featuring three alternative routes of 400 m, 800 m and 1,200 m. It offered young participants their first introduction to the exciting world of triathlon, including challenges of 100 m swimming and 400 m running. Games, surprises and the popular Amusement Park of Packaging Recycling combined education and entertainment, delivering a memorable experience and reinforcing the message that big changes start with small actions.
Finally, HERRCO played a key role in reducing the event’s environmental footprint by providing equipment for the collection of packaging waste and overseeing its collection and recycling. Through this initiative, 12,000 plastic water bottles used by athletes were collected and sent for recycling. With this contribution, HERRCO highlighted the strong connection between Packaging Recycling and sports, while promoting sustainability and environmental responsibility.
