Hellenic Athletics Association (SEGAS) partners with the Hellenic Recovery Recycling Corporation (HERRCO)

Where do around 700,000 water, isotonic drink and juice bottles used during the Athens Marathon – The Authentic – end up?

Once they leave the runners’ hands, their management is taken over by the Hellenic Recovery Recycling Corporation (HERRCO).

At Marathonas and the Panathenaic Stadium, 100 Blue Bins for Packaging Recycling will be installed, as in previous years, while a total of 1,500 recycling bags will be available at the refreshment stations. This ensures that plastic bottles are properly collected and sent for correct recovery and recycling.

In cooperation with SEGAS, HERRCO will be responsible for the collection and recovery of packaging materials from the refreshment stations of the Athens Authentic Marathon, as well as along the routes of the 5 km COSMOTE TELEKOM race and the 10 km OPAP race.
